Of Loss and Love

In the past few months I’ve undergone excruciating changes, namely divorce from my husband and partner of nearly six years.

In order to cope with the tremendous changes I had to take down my social media sites and tune out of the world.

It has been hard to retain my love of weaving in the wake of such personal loss and betrayal, especially from someone who had “allowed” me to pursue weaving on the basis that I would be his stay-at-home-spouse and the future home-school mother of his children.

So when my partnership, which seemed placid, even lovely, came to a halting stop I went into shock. I still am in shock. I can’t pick up a weaving quill or cone without feeling a pain in my chest.

It’s in that light that I temporarily shut down this website. Now that my partnership is severed for good I’ve decided to re-open this website [Hamsa] as a stand-alone testament of my weaving odyssey thus far.

In the meantime I am closing down my studio until I can figure out my head from my heart and pick up a weaving shuttle without weeping. Time has yet to see whether or not weaving and textiles will remain a predominate passion in my life.

Thank you for reading and stay “warped.” See you soon.

Treasures Week

Coverlets, table cloths, table runners and shawls pumped out by advanced students. I’m working on a 6 Shaft Monk’s Belt shawl, which Deb worked on (above) and I made several samples which included a blue inlay. Other projects include drafting a Monk’s Belt & Rosepath or “RosenBelt” yardage for a future Treasure’s project. These projects haven’t left me much time but I was able to knit a cap and mitts. Living on the East Coast gave me an excuse to buy a good, Blutsgeschwister coat from Germany (right bottom corner).

It. Is. Finished.

This took way longer than it should of…and mostly because I got discouraged in mid-way and slacked off. I finished it around 9:30/10pm EST…hours before catching my 3am shuttle for my plane ride back to the PNW. Now I can eat my Turkey dinner and thank G-d it’s over with…and begin planning my Kravasnor project. Oy!
